Frequently Asked Questions

What is Our Little Book?
Our Little Book makes personalized, illustrated children’s storybooks. You create the characters, the people and pets you love, and we write and illustrate a keepsake collection of stories built around them.
Do I upload a photo of my child?
No. You build each character from guided traits and your own words, never a photo, so nothing of your child’s likeness is ever uploaded; the picture is drawn from your description. And a finished book stays private: its art is never put on a public page, and any link you choose to share you can switch off anytime.
Can the book be in Spanish, or made for our holidays?
Yes to both. Every book can be written in natural Spanish, written fresh in the language rather than translated. And beyond birthdays and first days of school, the studio knows occasions like Diwali, Lunar New Year, Eid, Kwanzaa, and Day of the Dead, written with their real traditions rather than a generic stand-in.
How many pages is a book?
A Short Story is a lean ten pages. A Single Story runs about twenty-five. An Anthology gathers five stories of about twenty-five pages each into one keepsake, with a shared opening and a single closing.
How does it work?
You walk a short, guided setup: tell us who the book is for, build and approve the characters, and share a few story ideas. Then the book is written and illustrated for you, page by page, and we email you the moment it’s ready.
How long does it take?
Setting up the details takes a few minutes of your time. After that, the studio writes and illustrates each page, which you can watch on screen, a short story is usually ready in about half an hour, a single story in under an hour, and a five-story anthology can take a couple of hours. We email you the moment it’s done, so you can start it and go live your day.
Can the characters be pets or animals?
Yes. People, pets, a beloved stuffed animal, even a mythical creature can all be characters. You describe each one and approve its art before any story is written.
How are the illustrations made?
Each character gets a reference illustration that you approve. That same character then appears consistently on every page, so the cast looks the same throughout the book.
Do I own the book, and can I print it myself?
Yes. The moment your book is finished, the file is yours to keep, and it downloads print-ready, so you can take it to any printer you like. A hardcover book we print and bind for you is coming, and it will never be required.
Who is a book for?
Any age. A grandparent, a new baby, a child, a sibling. Each book is a gift built around a specific person and the characters in their world.
How involved do I get to be?
As involved as you like. You can give a single sentence per story, or shape the settings, the scenes, and the details yourself. The book bends to how much you want to steer it.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free account, so your book is saved as you go and you can return to finish it whenever you like.
How much does a book cost?
Two ways to go. Pay per book and each one’s digital, yours to download print-ready: a Short Story is $9.99 (ten pages), a Single Story is $24.99, and the Anthology, five stories in one volume, is $69.99 (the best value). The Atelier, our most hands-on tier, starts at $99.99. A hardcover book we print and bind is coming, and it will never be part of the book price. Or there’s Ever After, $49.99 per month, with 24 credits a month to spend on any book, plus top-up credit packs you own for good. Prices don’t include tax, which is added at checkout.
What’s included in the price?
The story, written for your cast, and every page illustrated in our one watercolor look. Your characters are drawn just for your family, you review and edit every page before it’s final, and the finished file is yours to download and keep, print-ready. A hardcover book we print and bind is coming, and it will never be part of the book price.
Is this made by AI?
We use modern tools to draw quickly, but a book isn’t left to a machine. Every page is reviewed before it reaches you, the whole book is held to one locked watercolor look so nothing drifts off-style, and you approve each character and edit any page yourself. The result is a curated keepsake, not an automated dump.
Do you offer books in Spanish?
Yes. You can have the story written in Spanish, with the same characters and the same watercolor art. Spanish is our first added language, with more to come. The product and plan names stay the same in every language.
What’s the difference between a digital book and a hardcover book?
Every book today is the digital book: the finished file, yours to download, read on a screen, and keep forever. It downloads print-ready, so you can have it printed wherever you like. A hardcover book we print and bind is coming, and when it arrives it will be an optional add-on you can put on a book you already made.
How fast can I get a book?
Most books are ready the same sitting, a short story in about half an hour and a fuller book up to a couple of hours, and you can watch each page appear on screen or let us email you the moment it’s done.
What’s the best age for these books?
There’s no single right age. The stories suit toddlers through early readers beautifully, and many are kept and reread long after that. Because you shape the cast and the story, a book can fit the exact child it’s for.
Is a book a good first-birthday gift?
It’s a lovely one. A book starring the birthday child becomes a keepsake the family reads together now and holds onto for years. It’s a warmer gift than another toy, and it’s made for that one specific little person.
Can I make a book that includes a pet who has died?
Yes, and many families do. A book is a gentle way to keep a beloved pet in the story, drawn just as they were and woven into the adventures you remember. You decide the tone, and you review every page, so the book stays exactly as tender as you want it to be.
Can I make a book for grandparents or long-distance family?
Absolutely. A book is a heartfelt way to bring far-apart family into the same story, with grandparents, cousins, and the kids all in the cast. Send the digital book anywhere instantly, or download it print-ready and have a copy made for them.
Can a book be about an adoption or a new sibling?
Yes. These are some of the most loved books we make. You build the family just as it is, name the new arrival, and shape a story that welcomes them in. You give the details and the tone, and you can edit every page until it feels right.
Can I edit a book after it’s made?
Yes. You review and edit pages as the book comes together, and you can revisit a saved book to make changes. Download the updated file whenever you like; the copy you keep is always the latest one.
